Where have I been?

Me at  the Baltimore Half Marathon in October 2015

Last time you heard from me, I was lacking my motivation to run. Boy was that true. Over the last couple years, I have struggled with lack of motivation, sidelines from injuries and, a busy lifestyle.
Guess what!!! I am back!

I have decided to put myself first these days. I have been running and training. My last race was in October last year at the Baltimore Half. I ran on a sprained ankle and it was pure hell. I spent the rest of the year taking care of my ankle and getting back on track.

Now, as of February of this year...I am back on track. I am back to running with The Steeplechasers and, with my running best friends. I have signed up for The Coastal Delaware Half in April and plan to crush it! I am hoping to PR. But, lets be real...I haven't run "Fast" since 2012. I will try my hardest that's for sure.

So, what's the future for this blog?

I am hoping to come here weekly to let you know about my weekly training runs, talk about some of the products I am currently using, I'd still like to post race reviews too.

What about you guys? What would you like to see me post about?

I am also starting a 6 week weight loss/fitness contest with some friends as a local gym. Maybe I can discuss some of how that goes as well.

I hope to see some of my old blog readers back!! I've missed everyone!

On track?!?

This past Sunday was my scheduled 8 mile long run. I ran 8 the Sunday before so, I knew I could do it. It didn't turn out as I had planned. I ended up only running 6.5 miles. See, this past Sunday I was running with a group and well..I'm not really a fast runner. I ended up falling behind. I didn't want to get lost so I had to run with the last pacer. He only ended up running the 6.5 so he wouldn't be too far behind everyone coming in.

I have been really down on myself since then. I have been running now for quiet some time. I don't get why my feet don't want to go faster. I try and try to push myself but, I just can't get faster. I seem to be stuck at a 13-14min mile pace. Also, the 1st 3 miles are the worst. Once I get over the 3 mile hump I feel like I do get faster but, never over that 13 min. hump. Boo.

This weekend I will have to run my long run on my own. Let's hope I can get it done. I need to be on the right track to my half marathon goal.

I signed up for a local 10 miler taking place in 2 weeks. I am super nervous about that one but, know I HAVE to tackle it. Luckily, I am participating with a bunch of my running friends. They always seem to know how to push me just enough to get me to my goal!

On a side note: I purchased some new running socks to try out. My old ones have now started to give me blisters on my longer runs. I am really looking forward to trying these new ones out as, I have heard great things about them. Look forward to a review of them coming soon!

I'm baacckk!!

Heeellllooo party people!!

Guess what?

I'm back! I thought it was a perfect time to bring back my blog that's been in hiding for quiet some time. Why did I leave? You ask. Well, I had a great bit of difficulty blogging after I had gained a lot of the weight back that I had lost. I was embarrassed, and ashamed. What's different now? I sort of threw away the scale, and stopped obsessing over the weight. I started focuses on eating healthy and just staying active. I joined a new gym where I go to every morning. I've put more focus into weight training too. I feel so fit and energized as of lately.

I had been dreaming of the idea of participating in a half marathon for quiet some time now but, always felt I wasn't ready. Not to mention it scares the pants off me. After running an 8 mile run last Sunday with out stopping. (Yep, you read that right peeps) I said to myself, I have come a very, very long way since I first started my running journey. I needed to celebrate that. What better way to celebrate it than to finally face my biggest fear head on. A half marathon!!! I officially signed up! I will be running on May 6, 2012. I will need all the support and motivation I can get. Hence the reason for starting up this blog again.

I need accountability. A swift kick in the pants if you don't see regular blogging here. Shout at me on Facebook or here and, let me have it. I would also like to use this platform to share my training with any newbie runners or anyone thinking about running a half. What better way to make a big decision like that than to follow someone else on their journey, and learn from their celebrations and mistakes. I would like to post some product reviews of my favorite running products as well as some huge misses for me.

So, who's excited!!! I know I am!
